Situation:
NCR Corp. is a global leader in multivendor ATM software and the world’s #1 POS software provider for the retail and hospitality industries. Headquartered in Atlanta, Ga., NCR has over 34,000 employees in 160 countries and solutions distributed in 141 countries.
NCR made a strategic decision to execute a carve-out of its Interactive Printer Solutions business (IPS), the leading global manufacturer of receipt papers and related products. It operated manufacturing facilities in ten countries, employing over 800 associates across the globe.
Ameridan’s Role:
Ameridan was engaged by a leading US-based private equity group to perform market diligence. The project focused on examining the effects of changes in point of sale (“POS”) technologies on the U.S. demand for thermal papers used in POS receipts.
As part of its diligence efforts, Ameridan conducted a structured, blind interview program. Interviewee’s included retail and food service executives with knowledge of, and/or responsibility for, POS related issues. Interviewees also included a variety of technology providers active in POS systems.
